Beverley workshops

    Have you always wanted to make your own clothes for yourself and your family?

    Perhaps you have a sewing machine but don’t really know how to use it to its full potential?

    Making your own clothes means that you’ll save money, be able to recycle old clothing into new and unique garments and enjoy a rewarding and relaxing hobby!

    On this four- or six-week course you will make a skirt and learn how to use your sewing machine safely and competently, how to correctly choose and use a commercial sewing pattern, the best fabrics and seams to use, and how to master zips and buttonholes.

    This course is ideal if you have some very basic dressmaking skills and you’d like to brush up on your skills or learn more. You will be able to take home with you any pieces you make on the course.

    Want to make a garment from scratch? Finish that quilt? Upcycle some old clothing? Create a beautiful patchwork cushion, a stylish bag, or adorable baby gifts? Whatever your project, you’ll have the space, support, and guidance to make it happen.

    Each week, you’ll learn new skills — from machine stitching to reading and interpreting a pattern to tacking to patchwork — helping you build confidence and expand your sewing know-how. With a welcoming atmosphere and like-minded people, you’ll be inspired to stitch, create, and have fun.

    Ready to move on from the introduction opportunity? This learning opportunity will help you build confidence in speaking, listening and understanding Spanish in real world situations. You will learn to have longer conversations, talk about your plans and expand your vocabulary for travel, shopping and social interactions. Cottingham workshops

    Your air-fryer is great for making easy sweets. The advantages of using an air-fryer are that most things cook more quickly, as well as being cheaper to run than ovens, helping you save on energy and work!

    Come along to this session and go home with doughnuts, poached pear galettes with frangipane, and chocolate and salted caramel pudding.

    You’ll be given recipe cards at the end of the session so that you can recreate these dishes at home.

    Air fryers might be best known for cooking meat dishes, but there's so many vegetarian options you can use them for too! It’s well known that you can cook up fabulous chips in an air fryer, but there's also a wide variety of recipes that lend themselves to this technique.

    In this session your tutor will guide you through the processes of making spicy veggie tacos, Buffalo barbecue cabbage and Turkish eggs and halloumi brunch.

    You’ll be given recipe cards to take home so that you can recreate these dishes at home.
