Level 2 Principles of Team Leading

  • If you’d like to pursue a career in team leading or would like to progress within your current employment, then this Level 2 course will provide you with knowledge and understanding of a range of team leading principles and you’ll also gain a qualification to add to your CV.

  • On this course you’ll learn about different kinds of business structures in the public, private and voluntary sectors and the range and purpose of leadership opportunities that are available within these. You’ll learn what team leading is and what it involves, from managing a team’s workload to motivating team members, as well understanding how different types of leadership can impact a team’s performance. You’ll also learn about different kinds of verbal and written communication methods in the workplace, from preparing for and participating in meetings to ensuring accuracy in documentation and how communication varies depending on the audience.

  • This course is made up of a total of eight units; there are three mandatory units and you may choose your remaining five units from the range below.

    For your three mandatory units you’ll develop your understanding of:

    • The principles of team leading

    • Business environments and structures

    • Communicating work-related information.

    You’ll then be able to build your knowledge in five of the following areas:

    • Managing performance and conflict in the workplace

    • Understanding customers

    • Delivering customer service and resolving problems

    • Principles of equality and diversity in the workplace

    • Developing working relationships with colleagues

    • Health and safety procedures in the workplace

    • Developing and delivering a presentation

    • Coaching in the workplace

    • Mentoring others

    • Understanding personal development.

  • You will speak to one of our Personal Advisors prior to enrolling on the course, where you’ll be able to receive information, advice and guidance related to your course; they’ll also discuss your learning goals with you and answer any questions you may have.

    In order to join this eLearning course you will need:

    • A reliable internet connection and a computer, laptop or tablet

    • A notepad and pen, or a word-processing application (such as Microsoft Word) for making notes

    • A suitable place to study that is free from any distractions

    • Access to the East Riding eLearn platform; we will send joining instructions to you once you have enrolled.

  • You will study completely online and work at your own pace, benefiting from access to online content, including resources such as interactive case studies, videos and study notes.

    You will be allocated an assessor who will keep in touch with you to review your work and offer any guidance you may need. You will also agree a planned completion date with your assessor. Typically we would allow 24 calendar weeks for completion of the course.
